yep i had a similar message wrote out but figured it would be pointless, but yeah in my experience, people with autism tend to be very driven into one specific field, so while that doesn't help get a super high IQ in some cases they still excel in their chosen field/area of expertise
one of the issues is the social stigma + people with autism/aspergers tend to have poor social skills.....and as mentioned above their drie is their drive, i tried to see if i could convince my brother to get into something more "productive"....but the desire simply isnt there and i/he cant force him to want to do it, and without a desire to do it he simply will not even try
Good thing you don't need social skills to be a doctor,programer,engineer,accountant. 80 years ago most men were silent to begin with,I think people on the minor side of the autism scale would have been simply considered eccentric back in the 1900s.
