I think it will be new years day.
Hykem said, that it should be done this week:
So, my intention to release something exactly on Christmas is clearly not going to happen. I already knew it would be quite a stretch to get all the relevant stuff done by tomorrow, whence the warning that it was merely an intention.
Still, I'm steadily working on all that's necessary for a proper release and I will be spending the first month of the next year doing maintenance and giving support related to the exploit.
By the way, this doesn't mean it won't happen at all, I'm just giving an heads up so no one gets their hopes high for a Christmas eve release. Next week or so is a more plausible release date.

Hm, keep in mind he said next week last week, so it's expected to come out this week unless something has been said otherwise. You could say a week into January at the latest based on what Hykem's said as of right now. The way he worded his previous posts suggests he has it ready for the most part and is only finishing up stuff, so it should almost definitely be out before February.

Edit: Ninja'd

I'm really wondering whether it's worth hunting an 5.32 wii u or not. Guess we'll find out in a few days (hopefully)

Don't bother, this hack has so much available that you could theoretically downgrade sysnand (but emunand makes that pointless).

I'm also on 5.5, set up tubehax dns now and hope I'll be able to exploit soon. How do you run backups anyway, still only possible via loadiine?

For now only Loadiine works but once we have the signature checks patched, we'll only need to pack the games as .wumads and install them to the USB drives with DevMenu / System Config Tool (or some homebrew wumad installer)

sounds similar to the 3DS stuff mmm, sounds suweet :3 when i read USB loading games ,sounds so fine.

i will buy a new HDD exclusively for my WiiU , i guess i will buy a 500gb HDD .

The main thing I hope to see is some way of storing games on a USB without giving up the entire freaking device.

500GB sounds a bit undersized as current WiiU image files have around 25GB.
You should be using a 1TB HDD until there's a possibility to shrink the image files ("WiiScrubber") :)

wow thats huge.. so lets say what would the size of a game like MarioTennis Ultra smash be or DK Tropical freeze? around 10gigs..?

and i assume the real big games would be games like Xenoblade, i would think Xeno is around 20-30gigs. hm not sure though as i never looked them up,

but i thought a 500GB HDD would be sufficient, wouldnt i be able to have about 20 WiiU "Backups" on it ?!

Onny fully padded disk images (.wum) are 25GB big and they aren't used by anyone except official developers.

.wumad files are just like .CIA files, They don't have any padding.

That's a pretty useless tool unless someone stores the raw disc images instead of compressing them with WinRAR or something.
Loadiine uses the extracted files.

Useless? Once you compressed them to .wux files you can remove the 25GB .wud file.
If you ever need the .wud file again you just decompress it using the same tool.
