I would like to know if there is a (deer) hunting game available for the DS at all.
If so, whats the title?

The closest you're likely to get to hunting on DS is playing one of the Lost in Blue games.

Or do I have a wildly off interpretation of that game series.

How about getting Call of Duty and pretending the enemies are deers?

I just checked. It's more cartoony than Deer Hunter (think more Duck Hunt), but Chicken Shoot is technically a "hunting" game or at least a "shooting" game.

If you are looking for more shooting games, Point Break DS is the classic arcade light shooter brought to DS.
