How will Switch 1 games perform?

There was a small mention basically saying that not all games were going to be compatible ...

And it doesn't look like they have the IR camera like the right joycon 1 did. That and the size difference will make stuff like Ring Fit Adventures of Nintendo Labo not really compatible either. Not a huge loss tbh.

The OS is supposed to be the same, right ? I wonder if the only difference is going to be the cartridge, so you can't put Switch 2 carts on a Switch 1.
My (game) theory is that by default, games will just feel more stable and immediately benefit from the better hardware (loading times, dynamic resolution, framerate ...), so they won't exactly play like they were on Switch. So maybe some will not even need a patch at all, but others will in order to unlock the framerate and/or the resolution. That means that without a patch, games that are already locked to hell won't be much different.

Idk that's just my worthless speculation about it. I just don't see why they would limit the processing power in a potential « Switch 1 mode », I don't think there are people craving for the « original Switch 1 experience »
well no, if its backward compatible then there’s a chance the catridge is the exact same size…

this is the same case as a PS3 and PS4 disc. you can try putting a PS4 disc into PS3 but nothing will happen. its not neccesarily has to be different size

I feel like they will NOT perform any better. They won't be upscaled to 4k, they won't run with more fps, they won't play any better.
If their graphics sucked on Switch 1, they will also suck on Switch 2.

They could have done that with the 3DS too, but they didn't and that's because their cartridges aren't normalized. You might be right tho, there's nothing that allow us to definitely say that the cartridges are going to be the same or not, but the comparison with Playstation isn't really relevant because they aren't going to modify the discs size, are they lol
That's just a detail anyway

Doubt this will be the case. The games ran at a dynamic resolution on the switch 1, dont see why it wouldnt be possible for the switch 2 to max it out to the native resolution as the games will run natively.

my guess is: it's goin to perform exactly as if they are running on switch 1, except if you have atmosphere2 installed. If so, then, it will be improved.

Nintendo is not known for spending time improving old games for new RC-Hardware. They like to remake them (badly, most of the time) and then, charge full price.

i'd like to believe that switch 1 games will have some enhancements like better loading times, higher resolution and smoother framerates a bit like how xbox did backwards compatibility

Imo there potentially could be some improvements, given that they're most likely doing the same HorizonOS song and dance again and as such there won't have to be shenanigans like "Switch Mode" or a "vSwitch".

I really don't see games just magically running better. I only see Nintendo locking all the Switch 1 games in sandbox to restrict vulnerabilities. We will have to wait and see, but I'm being realistic here. No other console just makes games run faster, they are all officially patched including the xbox backwards compatibility mode.

I'm assuming homebrew would be able to help with this, unless there's a sandboxed Switch 1 mode with limited processing power or something?
Of course it will. When we are old and grumpy it will surely cheer us up. That is provide you will grow old with your Switch 2.

Meanwhile I am waiting to buy Mario kart 8 Switch 2 port.

Also waiting to tell steam deck friends that this thing runs old PC game port better.

It’s already secured. No need for extra lock. Old lock is still very good. Make new lock just ask for trouble. You would wish they are doing that so bugs can be introduced.

Whether they add anti-physical attack is a cost vs benefit question. I doubt it is worth their money.

Imagine being able too load switch 2 games in Ryu/Yuz 😅. Could be possible. The system could just be a beefed up Switch (remember WiiU)

games without performance and visual patch will run the games at 30fps max without it dipping below. it's like bloodborne on ps5 when it's a ps4 game that drops fps. can't wait to replay totk, botw and odyssey again with 60fps
