This isn't a genuine question, I'm just curious about peoples opinions.
Which of the following do you think will be the one Nintendo goes for when playing original DS games on the 3DS?

Hopefully like the last one but I bet they will keep aspect ratio personally.

probably be like the 2nd one. the bottom screen has the same res I think, only the top screen is different

Both screens are different, the DS/lite/i is 256x192, the 3DS is 400x240 (top) and 320x240 (bottom)

In that case I still like the 2nd one, just might skew the graphics for games like Zelda that use the bottom screen the most

I'm thinking it's 2 or 3 since the 3DS will most probably be like how the DSi works

IIRC some1 stated that the DSi run in a 'compatibility mode' when running DS games which doesn't allow access to the DSi specific hardware (sorry not sure where I read that from)

So if the 3DS is the same then when running DS Games it will have the same type of DS 'compatibility' mode - which won't allow access to any of the more powerful hardware avaliable (such as the stuff for 3D or powerful graphics processor etc)

The only 'improvement' would most probably be the Processor used in the 3DS will be more powerful/faster & able to 'stretch' the graphics, & possible have enough CPU power to apply a filter as well

2nd sounds about right, although I might like 1st better. Some games are just not for jaggies, although DS rendering by itself presents lots of jaggies, I'd prefer it not to be so obvious

Aspect ratio will be kept, alongside relative screen sizes. The 3DS's bottom screen is taller than the top Screen so expect a slight border on the bottom screen.
That's what I think anyway.

If the DSi XL has support for screens and the games support it, wouldn't it work fullscreen on the 3DS too?

Perhaps there could be a choice?

Standard resolution/ratio or full screens, something like that.

Or maybe the option to change resolutions of original games?

That might be likely (GB/GBC into GBA), but think of it like putting a DS game into a DSiXL
