How to update games on banned Switch 2
Here a quick guide on installing updates on banned Switch 2.
I bought an already banned S2 for 200 euros (the price the second-hand full working Switch 2 should be worth -before the RAM crisis, leastways- but let's avoid controversy) and immediately tried how to install game updates.
The procedure is very intuitive, there is for those who hadn't thought of it.
It's not very practical and you need other Switch (even banned).
1. Install the desired game and its update on the source Switch
2. Select the game and press + 🠖 Software Update 🠖 Sync version with local users
3. Select NEXT (deactivate airplane mode first, if active; internet connection is not necessary) -> Create or Join Group
Thus leave the screen and switch (!) to the other console.
4. On the banned Switch 2 (the two consoles must have the same firmware, but not necessarily the last one) select the game (previously installed or from gamecard or MIG)
5. Select + 🠖 Software Update 🠖 Sync version with local users.
6. Select NEXT (deactivate airplane mode first, if active; internet connection is not necessary) -> Create/Join Group (depending on the one you previously used)
7. Select the group created on one console and press Start communication on the other.
At this point it will be possible to play the titles updated with the speed of the new console and, in some cases, better framerate.
Among the titles I've tried, the following work perfectly (don't use DBI):
Disco Elysium
It Takes Two
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Mario Tennis Aces
Syberia 3
The Plucky Squire
Thimbleweed Park
Rayman Legends
Untitled Goose Game
Cat Quest III
Layton's Mystery Journey - Katrielle and the Millionaires Conspiracy DE
Little Nightmares III
Pac-Man World Re-Pac
Puzzle Bobble Everybubble
The Karate Kid SR
I was unable to update:
Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Donkey
Kong Country Returns HD
Pikmin 3
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Red Dead Redemption
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac
