I have a android tablet that been bugging me for a update for weeks now, but i haven't done it. Everytime i do update, i lose root privilages and i have to re root it again, with a tedious look at the MS DOS program i already dislike using, does anyone know a safeway to do this? I currently have TWRP installed in place of default android recovery. It always get removed when i update along with root.

This shouldn't happen if you're on a custom ROM. If you're on stock, install CyanogenMod or something.

If you have system mode root from SuperSU, enable PseudoPro and enable survive OTA updates

Thanks but i managed to find a way, is a app called flashfire. :)
It can install ota updates without losing root. It returns stock recovery, installs update then removes stock and replaces TWRP back and enables root. First time using it and it seem about 6 months old. Since april i think.

Why not just go in xda forum for your device and download the latest pre-rooted Rom? Just back up all your apps with something like titanium backup.

Okay, well when you find a pre rooted rom for nvidia shield devices, let me know. lol (I doubt one exist) besides i already used flash fire, it works well and no problem at all, besides downloading OTA is recommended simply cause is a update, and upgrades what needs to be fixed. Most of the time. :P

Serious note, flashfire worked, so if anyone willing to try, i recommend it. I had few updates that removes root and i had to do it again, this time i used the app, works as expected. :)

You could install systemless root, and take official ota updates with no proble,
