How to turn off PS3 (reliably using the power-button)

yeah, the ps3 and ps4 iirc use sensors. I know at least the ps4 does. the ps5 actually has two rectangular buttons that you press for eject or power. you have to hold down the power to turn it off if you don't want to use the controller, and I guess they did that in case you hit power instead of eject. I don't think there's an indicator next to the buttons, so you just have to memorize them.

I wish it was that easy in my case. I can lay my finger on it for ages and it doesn't work. I lay it on there, I rub it against it, I change positions and if I am lucky I can initate the PS3 turn off within a minute.

Can't. I use the PS2 controller.

might have to open it up to see if something is blocking the sensor. iirc, you need to lay your finger on there till it beeps a second time, then let go and it should turn off.

Okay, something must be wrong with my unit then, because it often doesn't register at all.
