How to play Linux games in .sh format on Steam Deck (Guide)

Good evening everyone,

Today I'm going to explain you how you can play Linux games in .sh format

As a Disclaimer: I don't know if this works for Linux games in other formats. I'm making this guide for people who are still new or inexperienced with Linux just like me. I only discovered this method by messing around and trying different methods just for fun and thought maybe there's a runner in Steam that let's me play Linux games and lo and behold that really was the case

1. Open the folder of your downloaded game
2. Locate your .sh file right click on the game and add it to Steam
3. Open your Steam Library and locate your game
4. Click on the cog icon
5. Then click on Properties
6. Go to Compatibility
7. Confirm Force the use of a specific Steam Play Compatibility tool
8. The first runner that should show up is Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout) do NOT change it because this is the runner needed to play your .sh game file
9. Close the window and click on play. Your game should open up now

sh are just shell scripts.

You should also be able to click and open the file, or open it in the terminal with "./" command
