Hacking How to partition a USB harddisk

Hi,

i want to buy the Western Digital My Passport Essential 320 GB USB HD and make 2 partitions, 1 for the USB loader and 1 for the Mediaplayer.
is this possible and how?

Sure, it is possible. You need a tool like Partittion Make for making partitions.

does this also work with USB harddisk? i thought a tool like partition magic only works with internal drives..

You can just use the hard drive partition tool built in to Windows instead of 3rd party software.

Just type diskmgmt.msc in the Run command.

IF you have vista, then it's easy.

In Vista, I just right clicked on 'Computer', clicked manage, went down to storage devices and created the two partitions from there (on my 1tb WD elements ext hdd). It was pretty simple. Apparently there's a similar way in XP, not sure though. Maybe what loesjoel said.
