How to convert .mkv to a compatible iphone format?

    I have a few .mkv I'd like to take on the go - other than a paid program like Waltr what are my options?

    nice! however I'm looking for a method to do it for free... (over 100mb is not free there)

    just install the vlc ios app and transfer the mkv's using ftp or itunes APP sharing

    iPhone supports mp4 video. There are many online apps can do the video conversion for you, such as zamzar, Acethinker Video Converter, mediaconverter, etc. They are totally free, and you don't have to download or install anything.
