My DSTT will be having it's first birthday in May and I was wondering how long flashcarts are meant to live.

I have a Supercard-CF slot-2 cart that is still going strong, I bought it when the old DS-phat first came out

....so that makes it around 3.5 years old afair

edit, i got an ez4 minSD too when that came out, that must be getting on for 2.5- 3 years old too.

If they are well made, as long as any electronic devices...

Pretty sure, some of them will still be alive in 10 years if you take good care of them...

Some other will only need some repair (capacitor..., cleaning wear contacts).

Actually, the only thing which may shorten their life, is their built in flash memory which have a limited life span... but if you're good at soldering, maybe you can found a brand new flashchip.

Only the future will tell us.

By the way, my oldest flashcard is my supercard SD, I bought it 10 month ago, still working perfectly... bought recently a new 2GB sd for it.

if well looked after, years. inbuilt flash memory may wear out though, as well as spring SD card slots.

other than that, the only thing that will kill a flashcard in normal use is tin whisker growth, so maybe 50-100 years

.Mhm... So how should I start this?

My fake R4DS is about 10 months old
My M3Real (which just sits there... and is the old version) is about 8 months old
My SuperCard DS One (which was traded for my AceKard 2.1) is about 4 months old
My AceKard 2.1 is about 2 months old

I think I am going to buy the M3Real off of my dad for $10... Going to use it for test purposes.

M3 MiniSD Perfect is close to 3.5 years old. I had a MMD and GBAmp2 before that, but I dont count them.

Same here, but just an M3 Perfect SD, got it about 3-4 years ago. I had an MP2 before that, though.

"Yes, you younglings, in ye olde days there were no Slot-1 flashcards, but you had to use either a NoPass or flash your DS to use a DS Slot-2 flashcard!"

My oldest flashcart is a SuperCard miniSD, about 2.5 years old. Nice little slot-2. If only the GBA mode wasn't so f'ed up... My M3 Simply is 1.5 years old, more or less, while I bought my CycloDS aroun 7 months ago.

If you can include the Flash advance pro 256 being able to run some DS ROMS then about 8 years, if not then my 3 year old M3 Perfect, but my oldest is my 12 year Super Wildcard DX.

My oldest one is my Flash2Advance Ultra which I got almost exactly 3 years ago, followed by my Supercard miniSD which I got about a year and a half ago.

R4 2nd gen was bought last January 22, 2008, my sis's birthday.

my DSTT first gen was bought last March 2008.

R4 is 1 year old. yipee. but it will go down in the near future when I have a new Acekard 2.1

I've had a G6DS Real since about Oct 2006. Still works!

I've had a XROM512 (GBA) since probably about May of 2004, and it's still in 100% working condition! Hell, I just got done with a session of Mother3!
