I bet if we created a network we could get at least a few thousand people to donate processing power, the question is how many pc would it take to break it in a normal amount of time (couple of months).

OVER 9000!!!! computers!

No seriously, people. stop asking to help brute force the 3DS key. It's not gonna be that easy. Have you heard of patience? I hear a legend that it's considered a virtue.

Is that true?

never! jk, really though. on paper, it's a good idea. in actuality, you would have to plan it so people 1.) would actually be doing it right and 2.) wouldn't be brute-forcing the same combinations

1) We don't know much about how 3DS works inside
2) Brute force a key can be VERY long (I'm talking about years), even with a lot of computers. It's more a matter of time than power.By example, to brute force a 10 alphanumeric characters key, you would have to try 36^10(= 3'656'158'440'000'000) combinations.

Conclusion : Forget about it.

indeed. it would be like ending world hunger or curing all diseases "if everyone in the world that can donate would donate $5, then we'd have enough to feed those poor starving children in africa blahblahblah"
its good on paper, but not in reality

Dunno.....I don't pretend to understand how they go about doing that stuff though either. But I wonder, how would they know if they managed to stumble on the correct key? What exactly are they processing against to know when they found it so they would know when to stop the computers from crunching on it? I mean what, do they have a 3DS hooked up to their PC somehow and something happens when the correct key is inputted into it?

thats also what i was thinking but don't know terribly much about programming (or hacking for that matter)

Heh, yeah....I guess we're what hackers consider leeches. We just use what others have discovered for our own personal use. Thank goodness for hackers, eh?

Maybe you should try playing the lottery instead

I DID but the first time I tried they just gave me a bunch of money and said I'll never have to play again. But I like playing
