Gaming How long before the [New Switch+] model?

Considering Nintendo has removed the Dock Station from their website, it shouldn't be too long before there's a new Dock Station (at the very least) and current owners hopefully can get that replaced too.

The way I see it, Nintendo just has to sell the screen unit by itself. We know that the screen and everything behind it is the meat and bones of the Switch. If you exclude the dock, the joycons, the hdmi, and the power cord, the price on just the screen peripheral itself will drop immensely, making an upgrade to a Switch+ very affordable to early adopters. Of course there are people who may have never bought a Switch so they might not have all of the components that come with it. For that, Nintendo can sell the entire Switch+ package with the components included. Obviously with all the components it will cost a bit more, but those of us who already have all the components can settle for just picking up the upgraded screen device sold separately. This is how I would like to see it done at least.

i would say wait it out mate, i purchased the switch day 1.

and i kind of would say i regret it abit, it feels cheap mate.
the screen is gorgeous though, but the joy cons and the dock etc.

makes me go thinking deep, humm... wait it out.

i think there will be a New Nintendo Switch , hahaha , we are talking about Nintendo.

but i doubt that it will be a huge difference with their New Nintendo Switch.
if they upgrade the screen of the tablet , then i may go nuts.

Maybe, like the 3DS no longer coming with the charger? You'd have to warn people that it's an upgrade set and even then you'd get many people who don't know better buying it while they don't have controllers or a charger.

That's actually very plausible. You would have something the size of the PS TV (or maybe a little bigger to make room for the fan and heat sink) and all it comes with is a Pro controller and cables. If the Joycons, touchscreen, and battery account for at least half of the cost then to Switch lite could be only $150-200.

But Nintendo won't launch it for three years at least, otherwise it'd sabotage Switch sales.

3DS-witch. Merge the two systems. Maybe smaller screen so it's more portable. 2 screens, 3d, capable of playing 3ds and switch titles via cart or download, Hdmi out. I know it won't happen, but i would definitely buy it. Also, breath of the wild in 3d.

I hope they release a $200 version with it consolized, no portable unit, just a box with the guts in it to connect to the TV. No joycons, just a (revised, less expensive version of) the Pro controller. Kind of what tha 2ds was to "people that don't like 3d" or whatever. Something you can play the games on with out the portable aspect.

It didn't work with the Vita TV because the Vita TV did not have a touchscreen and only a fraction of Vita games ran on it. I think a Switch TV might have 100% compatibility, unless there are some games to do not work in TV mode on the normal Switch either.

The Switches situation is a bit unique seeing as there are very few mobile GPUs better than the one it's already got as I don't think there are any Pascal mobile chips out yet, and it would have to remain an Nvidia chip and if they went with a 1080p screen it would decrease battery life and it's not as simple as getting a bigger battery as the one in the switch is already about as big as it can get for that size device. perhaps they could pull off a dock that boosts performance but I think that would require a specific type of USB-C.
