Homebrew how do i update my CFW?

I'm using alh9, do i need to update alh9 itself or just download update from system menu?

A9LH is a loader, not a CFW.
The CFW is Luma3DS for example.
To update your CFW you just need to update the arm9laoderhax.bin at the root of your SD card.

To update the system just update through system settings.

Luma3ds has firm protection. Updating will never screw up your 3ds unless you use a CFW (Luma won't let you so you are safe) which allows you to turn firm protection and try to update which will brick your 3ds or uninstall A9LH.
