I have tried installing boot9strap by using the safeb9sinstaller guide on 3ds.hacks.guide but as soon as I run udsploit my console crashes. Suggestions?

Please don't try using exploits (like udsploit) when custom firmware is already installed. It won't work. The thread title strongly suggest that you already have Fastboot3DS installed.
In this case you can just load SafeB9SInstaller.firm from Fastboot3DS (or from Luma3DS chainloader).
