I was attempting to modify the new limited edition red wii and so far I've got the Smash Stack and installed the homebrew channel and made a backup. When I try to install the IOS236 patch it shows me an error message. I don't know if it makes a difference but it did come loaded with channels (i.e. Wii+Internet & Internet Channel). I am not sure if I should delete these or not. I have access to the IOS236 Installer, MM Manager, & Priloader. I am stuck any ideas?

UPDATE: the exact error message reads...
Patch IOS
Unable to initialize the initial patches
This either means you didn't follow the download
and launching instructions correctly, or your IOS
is not vulnerable for a unknown reason.
Installation cannont continue.

Be sure you installed the HBC v1.0.7 or later, and that you have the meta.xml file with the "<no_ios_reload/>" node in the directory on the application (commonly SD:\apps\IOS236).

If you don't have the meta.xml, then you should decompress it from the pack where all the modding files came with. And if that still doesn't work, then it's very weird.

P.S.: you should've made this question on "Nintendo Wii > Soft & Hard Mods".

I installed the HBC from the pack and i still get the following error :
Exception (program) occurred!

If you have a look at my Guide: Softmod Any Wii, you may find the method of installing ios236 to be more reliable and simpler. You can find that guide here-
http://gbatemp.net/t265016-guide-softmod-any-wii

The cios236 installer requires the HBC to be 0.8, running on ios58. It works best if the wii is online. If the wii is offline, wait 30-60 seconds after loading the HBC before launching the cios236 installer. Also you must have the meta.xml from the cios236installer in the sd:\ apps \ ios236installer \ meta.xml.

The method used in my guided does not uses this installer, and in general is more reliable and simpler to use. You may wish to try that is you don't get the cios236 installer to work.

Have you tried Using Dop-Mii with IOS58+ARHBOOT which is direct hardware access not requiring you to actually have a patched IOS to use :) if anything use IOS250 to install IOS236 since that has all the need patches built in anyways.

I had to use IOS250 to install my friends IOS236 for what ever reason. Also make sure if your using IOS36 to install IOS236 that it is trucha bug

At Kylster: if you can install Cios 236 .wad with cios 250, there's really no need to install 236. Since the purpose of Cios 236 is to Install Cios like 250. 236 enables you to install unsigned things.
Use the 236 installer. It runs on ios 58.
If you do not have ios 58 install that first via the installer.

Everything is downloadble via Modmii. ios 58 is downloadeble via the homebrewbrowser.

You wouldn't believe the problem ended up being that I didn't have my internet configured so I wouldn't go online. Although, I read numerous times that it doesn't have to be but that didn't apply to me in this case.
