Hardware How do I format my SD card right?

Probably asked a dozen times already, sorry.
Im reading everywhere, that a Wii sd card has to be Fat16 formated.

All i can chose from are Fat (Standard) and Fat32... so how can i get this to Fat16?

I already tried it over cmd with
format F: /FS:FAT16

but thats only telling me that it wont work and asking me to insert a disk...

will it still work if i format it with FAT32 and 16 Kilobytes? Or is there any software that will format the sd card for me?
Or is the wii able to format it itself?

where ever you heard it from is probably the stupidest thing i've come across
yes it fine to format to fat32
(assuming it's those standard sd cards like sandisk ones)

Use SD card associaton sd formatter

Use Panasonic SD Card formatter from SD card association to format SD card. Do NOT format it using Windows or CMD.

For your information, FAT16 is only for SD card less than 2GB.

Lol theres absolutely no point in downloading the panasonic formater, its small sure, but just bloat really. If your on a Windows PC then just go to My Computer, right click the drive you want to format and select Format. FAT = FAT16, FAT32 = FAT32 obviously, and it doesn't really matter which you use (although FAT16 seems to have the best overall comparability with devices).

If you're having trouble open C:\Windows\System32\compmgmt.msc go to disc management and use that.

I disagree, Panasonic formatter follows SD card standard. It will select appropriate cluster size for specific sizes of SD card. In Windows you have to manually select cluster size instead. All electronics follows SD card standard so by using Panasonic formatter you ensure the highest comparability.

at and fat16 are the same thing. So it should be working.

Its possible that your SD card isnt compatible with the wii. What size is it? The wii only supports SD cards up to 2 gigs.

Wii does support SDHC from 4.0 SM
