And here, ladies and gentlemen, you can observe a prime example of how not to create a thread. There are two problems with this First Post, which are as follows:

1) The title is not descriptive

A thread's title should briefly explain what problem or question the user has. Additionally, it is recommended to give the thread a title that grabs other users' attention, so the thread does not get overlooked. (“Clickbait” and “all caps” titles are bad examples of this.)

2) The post itself does not provide enough details of the problem

The post itself should contain as much information as possible to avoid other users having to ask for these details. A good post describes in detail what program the user has a problem with and what the exact problem is in complete sentences.

i am trying to create an homebrew app which sends an http get request to a specific website but i don't know quite how to make the whole request thingy

Keep in mind who your target audience is. The people in these threads, save for the developers themselves, are your everyday world citizens using the apps and not programming them.

  • Get your basics down with 'hello world' through the 3ds-examples.
  • You'll have better luck at https://devkitpro.org/ , although the threads are kinda dead as devs are far and few between.
  • Do a lot of studying source codes of those homebrew projects that do what you're trying to accomplish. Here's directory list: https://titledb.com/
  • If need be, sign up for Nintendo developer's program. Use the official SDK for learning but remember to keep homebrew projects made only with other homebrew programs: https://developer.nintendo.com/

The homebrew appstore does this, I know because I looked into it for something I wanted to develop myself. Go through the code and you'll find it. If you can't, let me know, I'll find the file again for you this evening when I get home.

Edit: OOPS I thought this was a Switch thread. I'm so sorry. Yeah I bet as Lilith says below, there is code for this in the TitleDB part of FBI.
