Hacking Hardware how can i transfer backup data after factory reset? (cfw)

(newbie) my 3ds xl is recently starting to crash on the homescreen and it often doesnt boot correctly, it needs 3 or 4 tries to boot up.
i was going to send it to someone to fix it cause i think it's an hardware problem, but the first thing they'll do is probably factory resetting it. how can i back up data after they reset it? can i just put my sd card back in?

Look up guides for backing up content with godmode9 and backing up save files with checkpoint. I think game installs get transferred with the sd card but I'm not sure about anything else.

You can use JKSV and Checkpoint to backup your save data.
