Apple How can I hard reset/unlock an iPad?

So my niece has an iPad which she stupidly blocked and doesn't know the Apple ID password, as such I have tried the popular methods out there and while I've done them properly it didn't unlock the iPad. The damn thing is still locked and asks for her Apple ID.

I honestly have no clue why a 10 year old would need an iPad.

Oh, and the screen is broken in half already as it is (she also has an iPhone 6 which miraculously the screen isn't broken yet)... Yay.

Does anyone know of a way to unlock it?

By the way, I think it's an iPad Mini.

I think you would have to contact Apple and provide some personal info to prove that you didn't just steal it. iCloud protection is notoriously impossible to bypass.
