HOUSE OF THE DEAD: OVERKILL BREAKS [AN EFFIN'] RECORD FOR THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS GAMER’S EDITION

London, UK - 9 March, 2009 - The global authority on record-breaking, Guinness World Records, today announced that recently released The House of the Dead: OVERKILL (SEGA®, 2009) has broken into the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition for most swearing in a video game with a whopping 189 uses of the f-word.

Setting a record in this brand new category, the title recognizes The House of the Dead: OVERKILL as the most profane video game in history. During three hours of relatively limited dialogue, the campaign features 189 uses of the f-word, which equates to just over one per minute and three percent of all words spoken in the game.

Video Games Records Manager for Guinness World Records, Gaz Deaves, said: “This record category pre-existed for movies, music and television, but House of the Dead: Overkill is the first video game to be awarded the title in the Gamer’s Edition. It’s a mark of the times.”

The new record will be shortlisted for inclusion in next year’s Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition. Meanwhile, the 2009 Gamer’s Edition hit stores last month and has already received critical acclaim from both the gaming world and the mainstream press. Enjoying a top ten position on the UK book chart, Gaming Guide Kotaku said about the book: “With entries for professional gaming, top selling games in history, the history of hardware and Guitar Hero, the Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition looks to be a must have for fans of gaming.”

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL uncovers the ugly, terrifying, red hot secrets behind the House of the Dead; the daddy of all over-the-top shooters. While staying true to the classic gameplay this highly successful SEGA series takes on a new retro look with distinctive graphics, sound and attitude that add to its horror cool status. Also, because of the Wii RemoteTM, players will fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt.

Is that really something to be proud of? :\
In HotD:OVERKILL for sure, since the game doesn`t take itself obviously very serious.

If they had approached the game with more serious issues and dialogues I would have found it really nothing to be proud of but it doesnt... so

Exactly.. the game is supposed to be totally over the top and exaggerated, it never takes itself seriously and it's proud of it! So yep.. that's cool!

I hate swear words so I decide to throw this game away (backup game) and destroy HoTD game already.

Critics said "Its ****ing Good"
Other critics said "Its Mother ****ing Good"
A street corner prostitute said "I would suck that guys dick!"

See ? I am shock and it's disgusting and immature game!

Personally, I don't have a problem with swearing but I hate it anyway. I only swear a little bit around friends, but I do care how much they swear. It does offend me. I choose not to swear as much because I prefer to come up with other words to express whatever I'm trying to express. I'm kind of a believer in the whole "swearing shows a lack of vocabulary" theory, and I have a great fondness for words, so I try to use as many as I can at all times, I think.

I don't really care. I've had my mother sweared at before by friends and I didn't give a damn.

Okay. Suit yourself. I would never think of swearing in front of my parents because if I did I would get what for and the children (nephews and neices) pay me the same respect.

And I thought GTA 4 had most f*ing number of f*

Well, GTA IV is completed in what? 25 hours? (dunno anymore)
But HoTD is completed in 3 hours, and they have more swearing. Can you imagine how much f**** that are in 1 hour?
