I am looking forward to one day running homebrew on my 3DS, the upgraded graphical capabilities and the larger screen give it some pretty awesome potential.

In a perfect world, what would you most like to see running on it one day?

My personal wishlist:
Half-Life
System Shock 2
Morrowind (A little too optimistic, perhaps)
N64 emulator
GBA emulator
Reliable SNES emulation

i wish to port all of my cuttent DSi homeberws
Sandbox engine, Project Legends, to 3DS with the better nextgen graphics, 3D, & camera support possibly.

Edit: when 3DS homebrew is available.

The 3 pc games I high really don't think could work, as for the rest, I could see that.

The original Half Life would definitely work along with System Shock 2 - they're both twelve year old games. Morrowind would somewhat be pushing it but hell it could definitely work.

Just a gamecube emulator

The only homebrew I wish to see is a movie player that can play 3D movies.

Oh...wait: and the ability to use the 3DS as an alternative controller for the wiiU console.

Neither is very likely, as they will have to be built pretty much from scratch, but I already have a PSP for all the emulators I want, so those would be at best 'nice'.

I never understood the appeal of FPS on a console, by the way. I can only imagine it being worse on a handheld.

I never got around to hacking my PSP for homebrew, maybe now would be a good time.

I know FPS games aren't great on handhelds, specially the DS, but they're still a lot of fun. Quake 1 & 2 were great fun to play.

Looking at your list, only SNES & GBA emulation are possible.

there are plenty of apps i desire. among the most anticipated are a "universal remote" (like the one on the psp1000), a mediacenter capable of playing 3D-content and a skype app, in order to actually comunicate with people on my friendslist.
an app which allows me not only to take 3D pictures, but videos with the built in camera would be nice aswell

The hardware is not powerful enough for that, it's barely more powerful than a Gamecube yet alone being able to emulate it.
If you want a portable Gamecube get a PSVita, or you'll have to wait until next generation.

How could I forget that?!

I doubt we will ever get a N64 emu, but VB and GBA emu's I can see.
I really want a movie player which can play high quality video and sound. Better DOS emulation would also be nice.

N64 emulation is totaly possible, it has just enough ressources for a decent emulation (of course without texture packs and graphics upgrades like antialias, fancy filters, ...)

128MB FCram, dualcore arm + dedicated GPU + 4MB vram is enough, poeple proved that it is possible to push the hardware to its limits with enough patience

Wii64 is a nice example, and the wii had even less memory (3MB vram, 88MB ram (mem1 + mem2). And refering to the gpu, i think it is pretty much equivalent. Ok it is using a set of proprietary instructions to achieve some specific effects, but i think it has enough guts to handle a decent N64 emulation (not in 3D IMO) 30 fps is still enough for majority of games, only a few like f-zero X hit the 60 (with in counterpart very few textures & polygons)

But that's it, don't even think about dreamcast emulation or higher console. And I honestly doubt a vita has the guts to handle a gamecube emulation, but that's just my impression; the hardware is not final yet, and we know so little about it to have a serious topic

IMO which is likely possible to emulate (in a few years) :

Home Consoles :
NES,SNES (Famicon/S.Famicom), MasterSystem (Mark III), Megadrive (Genesis), Playstation, (no stable & optimized Saturn core yet, don't even think about it), N64, NeoGeo, TurboGrafX

Handhelds :
GB,GBC,GBA, (DS is useless) GameGear , NeoGeo Pocket, Lynx

Arcade :
CPS1, CPS2 (weak compatibility, memory is still short for some title), lots 80's systems allready supported by DS,

The possibles ports of well known games (ported from their open source code)
Quake, Quake2, (Quake 3 maybe but will be hell on memory), Doom (and mods), Duke 3D (build engine, possible port of Eduke32), and other GPL engines i forgot to mention which can be handled by the hardware

Systems that cannot be emulated decently (except from a god guru coder)

Home & Handhelds :
Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Wii, PSP (and off course none of current gen, no PS3/ X360, don't be stupid)

Arcade Systems :
CPS3 (memory shortage), Triforce, Naomi (same as dreamcast), and other systems i forgot to mention for obvious reasons

Ports impossible because of their proprietary status (no code released)
Half-life & mods like Counter-Strike (the "CS" on PSP is a mod of quake, not the same engine, not the same feeling), morrowind & other closed source games even beyond 3DS capabilities.

P.S : sorry for the syntax / grammar mistakes, i tried my best, and i'm not using any trad tools

I would like Genesis, SNES, and Virtual Boy emulators,
but most of all, I would simply want a movie playing app like moonshell, which can play h.264 videos at the system's full resolution.
