Likely it's possible, as long as you've either got the actual system and either the old copiers or something like the SNES Power Pak as seen in one of the hardware reviews here. I believe it would be possible to run, just need to make sure you can load the particular software onto the card or copier.

I should also say homebrew as it pertains to unlicensed code made outside the more traditional development channels is quite a new term with the old one being "public domain" aka PD and you will see that a lot in any SNES collection.

Recent years have seen a few pieces of new homebrew and even some custom stuff (I did try to find the link but I saw a video player of sorts using extra hardware).

Similarly it is less of a problem on the SNES than the NES but a fair bit of homebrew and such was developed with an emulator in mind rather than hardware.

I also want to mention there are quite a few (although not as many as other systems) hacks up to and including total conversions for various games- http://www.romhacking.net/?genre=&platform=9&game=&category=1&perpage=50&page=hacks&hacksearch=Go&title=&author= has some and http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/623/ is one of my favourites.

So anyone have one?

I have a Super Nintendo and a SNES PowerPak ... and I hope to add a Super Everdrive shortly as well. The SNES is my favourite system of all time. Thanks to the efforts of hard working ROM hackers, I get to play new hacks and translations on a pretty regular basis. It's not the same as having new games to buy, but it's close.

Real Men™ code in binary, carving the bits right into the ROM chip on the PCB with their dick.
w00000w, dude! You totally just blew my mind. Also, check out this:

"demo by Siudym. Made with a hex editor. No source code, of course."
nesdev.parodius.com/siudym.zip

Imagine making an NES game with a hex editor

EDIT: New signature.

Well since this is spiraling dangerously close to the XKCD comic as is, I'll just go ahead and post it.
