Depends on which system version you're on. Just follow 3ds.guide and it'll tell you what to do

There's 3 ways to install CFW on 11.5
1. DSiWare
2. Hardmod
3. NTRBoot / magnethax
DSiWare requires two 3DS, one of which has one of the required games listed on these pages:

Hardmod requires soldering, and is not a good course of action if you don't know what you're doing/don't have experience

NTRBoot requires a compatible flashcard (https://3ds.guide/ntrboot), and only one 3DS if it is a working console, or two otherwise.

Basically, just follow 3ds.guide

Basically this. Hardmod is not recommended for beginners, and if you don't know how to find it, it's really not something you should be trying. I'd recommend NTRBoot if you're able to get it, since, while it might not necessarily be the cheapest, it's the most convenient for installing cfw

Just get a flashcard, like Lia suggested. It's not too expensive, and you can use it for ds games too

If you have a hacked system do DSiWareHax, if not just do NTRBootHax. Those two ways are the softmod route, I think everyone will suggest these methods for you over a hardmod.

DSiWareHax requires you to have an already hacked console and also a purchased game from the eShop(check for compatibility).

If you don't have a hacked console NTRBootHax is the way to go, all it requires is a DS flashcard(again check for compatibility, you may already have one that will work, if not they're only $20 or so).

Just pick a way that suits you and follow the links that @mrjc1238 posted above.

Only the R4i Gold 3DS and the Infinity 3 R4i are compatible with 11.5 (Installable without another device), and Infinity 3 R4i isn't sold on nds-card.com.

dont forget that also you can install it with a powersaves (if you have one) or even an original ds(/i) so if the op has an old model ds or a powersaves3ds he has more options
