Both are fun, but I personally prefer HG/SS. I like seeing my Pokemon follow me around. :3

As much as I enjoyed HG/SS I'd have to give it to B/W. I just love seeing new pokemon, new badges, new "villains," regions, etc. Remakes just don't cut it for me, no matter how great they are. I definitely enjoy the old games and nostalgia, but I still enjoy the newness more.

meh i like b/w because of graphics but hgss for nostalgia and pokemon following u around
I like B/W better

Comparison:

HG/SS
- Remake
- Little added content
- Updated graphics
- Nothing else notably new except for standards put in place by Pearl/Diamond/Platinum

B/W
- New region
- Updated graphics from HG/SS
- All new Pokemon with no older Pokemon throughout the main journey
- New villains with an overall new purpose
- Overall, many more features to enjoy
- Actually contains difficulty and needs strategy to really get through if you don't just spam your starter

Overall, B/W brings far more to the table, and I couldn't get beyond the first gym in HG/SS, as it was just boring at that point to play an even longer version of a game I had enjoyed previously in the GBC format. All things considered, B/W is the better set of games on paper. In the end though, it comes down to personal preference.

HG&SS actually made use of the touchscreen in the general view - selecting your shoes or menu or whatnot.

I hate having to hold B to run.

You cant really compare a remake to something completely new.
"Johto" was pokefans most wished game to be remade after the remake of RBY(Fire Red/Leaf Green), hence fans were satisfied with it.
Where as B/W smashed all records and brings new things to the table, not just for old fans but newcommers will get the whole idea of Pokemon by playing B/W. I feel its a huge step up and nicely excuted for newcommers to get into the game.

I much prefer B/W over HG/SS. Yes, some of the pokémon were kind of odd. However, it was more than made up for with the new content. I loved the skyarrow bridge and castelia city and the storyline was very nice as well. I wish B/W would have had pokémon contests though. The musicals were a complete waste of time and very stupid IMO.

HG and SS were very nice, but I prefer something I haven't been through several times already.

I like HG/SS better.
It looks better, colors are very well balanced.
I love my Pokémon following me.
I like Johto better than Isshu. It has a traditional feeling, Isshu is way too urbanized.
Second generation is my favorite, Pokémon wise.
Being able to go to another region is awesome.
I like the menus better.
It has a Safari Zone.
Main NPCs are simple yet interesting.

And other shit.
Hands down, HG/SS was the best thing Gamefreak has ever done.

Black/White can be flashy with its 3D environments, C-Gear and stuff. But I didn't find it that fun.

Of course, this is all my opinion.

You know, going over it again, B/W had impressive visuals (with 3d-rendered backdrops like the bridge) but the gym challenge was a bit short and the end-game content (battle subway) seemed a bit underwhelming (partly due to the silly way of moving around). There was also no safari zone.

The pokemon following you in HG/SS was more annoying to me than anything else because the scale was completely wrong.

D/P beats both HG/SS and B/W in end-game runs in my opinion.

You didn't like Pokemon following you? Honestly, that was one of the best features of HG/SS.

White is the best.

What happened in Gen V is the same as what happened in Gen IV.
In Gen IV, everyone thought every Pokémon were ugly, rushed, etc.
But a while later, everyone loved them and thought they looked awesome.

The same has happened in Gen V. People used to think the Pokémon looked retarded and rushed, but most people either 1) Don't care about the Pokémon designs or 2) Likes them all now.

i can't really choose between the two, i
wub.gif
the old pokemon, but B&W has alot of new things. and i like new things

B/W cause HG/SS is an old remake from GBC versions with some adds, however, B/W has a new region, new vilains, new pokemons and new graphics (y) !

I think HeartGold and SoulSilver won it, I mean Team Plasma were a bunch of sissies, Team Rocket aren't afraid to be evil. As much as I like Unova I liked having Kanto and Johto more. The Pokemon in Black and White pretty much suck, except for a few(Starters are terrible and its pretty desperate when you make an ice cream cone Pokemon).

Hmmm, Gen V is different because its a different set. I still don't like the same ones I didn't like back then like Piplup and Chimchar and their evolutions as well as Shaymin and such.

Gen V there is a handful of Pokemon I say I like and thats not going to change because the Pokemon won't change.
