Freeshop is gone and my SD card is write protected. Any other way to get .cia files without copying into my SD card root?

It's not the problem, it's already toggled off. When it's on I'm not able to even read the content of the SD card, at the moment I can read the content but not modify it.

That is weird, if the toggle is off, it shouldn't be write protected.

Yeah I know, that's why I'm pretty desperate considering freeshop is dead.

I am not sure if its the same issue, but I had a similar problem before and it turned out the sd card was failing and turned on write-protect to save the data.

Perhaps you can try with another SD card, just see if you can copy file on to it and see if the 3ds read it.

If write-protect is always on, it's almost definitely either a failing SD card or a malfunctioning SD card adapter (if micro SD, eg: switch broken inside and stuck to lock even though the outside seems to flip). Until you fix the issue or you replace the SD card, you can't expect the SD card to allow transferring of files. FreeShop or not, you couldn't write to it anyways.

Depends whether it is the adapter or actually if the card is dying, should get another card if you have one lying around to see if it is SD card at fault.

Okay guys, thanks, looks like I won't be able to use this SD card anymore. I don't know how but if you guys want you can close the thread. I don't have any other SD card lying around but I should be able to buy one pretty soon and I'll test it up.

There should be a switch to unlock it on the side on the adapter worse case scenario use luna3ds cfw to convert a .3ds file to a .cia other than that i don't know.

Over time SD cards get an internal write protected there is nothing u can do but buy a new card and transfer data to new card
