I got a laptop with cracked case, non working hdd etc.
It turns on aslong as its plugged into a power supply.

But the monitor aint working ideas?

Turning on only when plugged into the power supply means the battery is dead. This is common with all old laptops.

As for the display, try plugging in an external monitor. Sometimes a laptop forgets the screen is there and will only project onto an external monitor. If that doesn't work, then chances are the GPU is shot.

I'm going with cpu maybe actually, you know that semi circle (oval) light thingy on the front of alot of laptops?
That turns on then, goes off. I tried external monitor but nothing.
