    I need help....how do i open/edit .pac_ files? There images......and i want to decompress them so i can insert IE 1 English pictures (like You Won or You Lost) into IE2...as its the same engine.


    Can someone help me?

    It may be Same Engine but the Games are different,so that haven´t guarantee that it will work out

    the graphics are the same...i just need to decompreess them so i know what one im inserting/editing

    Can you help me....i think its LZ77 compression....

    There in .pac_ files....

    Ex : Root/data.iz/pic2d/csup_w00.pac_

    I know it works because i replaced the Japanese Level-5 screen with the english one.

    Anyone?....if i can find out how to do this then it will mean i WILL definatly translate it.

    Im sure more people want me to translate it.

    Can someone give/provide me with thhe Unibase.dat (the one with all the names) and a tool to unpack/pack the script so i can translate the story/tasks.

    Last question : Can someone tell me what file is the Taks and move description?

    Okay instead of posting "help Help"
    try starting with this is the file header and I think this is where the pointer table is and I seem to have found the signature for (X)compression...
    You literally have only been waiting 2-3 days.
    The one game I was working on I didn't get an answer on the compression for 3 years... and even then I seem to be the one to make a "tool" for it. (even though I don't really know how)

    so take a snapshot of the file beginning (the hex part), to post here. upload the file in question to somewhere so we can download it.

    Try being more patient, please....


    Please note I cannot provide you with any tools but I will take a look.

    ....Im after a tool TyRaNtM used to edit .pkb/.pkh files. It unpacks them so i can edit where the TASKS are kept...as it cant be a full translation.......

    Well the game uses sjis (codepage 932). I honestly don't see why you need anything other than ct2.
    Did you ask TyRaNtM for the tool?


    so far everything is neat and organized and you really shouldn't have that much trouble finding the pointers on your own... (if I can...)

    You just have to check if the nftr(s) have single byte characters. If they don't edit them so they do, then edit what you need to directly in hex.
    Seriously the file "teamtitle.dat" is exactly that. just edit them directly... keeping in mind the space limits.

    I can tell you some of the pac files are lz compressed. I haven't looked into uncompressing the ones that need it yet...

    and now I see why you want the pkb thingy...
    eh, i would only worry about the graphics if I thought I had to.... since you only want to do a partial trans...

    oh dude come on how much did you look through this game... i can find the graphics easily...
    heres something you need to get batchlzz drop any and all files that are lz compressed onto it. Or you could go one by one with ct2. any ways after you do rebuild the rom with the unpacked files and take a look with ct2. there will be no problem finding and editing the graphics.

    as to the task and move descriptions you can easily find them in the .dat files. with a relative search. the script files don't really need a tool you just need to know what pointers are and how to properly edit them.

    teamtitle.dat spacings?......if i send you my teamtitle.dat can you fix it for me?

    How would i find out what file is the 'You Win' or 'You Lose' , Victory and the Opening Menu (New Game , COntinue and Connect)

    after reading your other thread...
    be patient a pkb tool is on the way.
    So... hmm, take the files that are lz compressed (in ct2 the files that have the Lz thingy in front of them) and decompress them. replace the compressed ones with the uncompressed ones and use dsbuff to rebuild the rom. open that rebuilt rom in ct2 and view it in graphic mode. slowly go through from the top to the bottom looking for any japanese in the graphics.

    my guess is that the menu stuff is in the pic2d/menu folder. those file need to be decompressed. I again recommend using batchlz.

    for those pac files that don't need decompressing you are going to need to use ct2's inbuilt tile composition tool. so you can puzzle piece together the graphics....
    example in cmd/mbd_c000s.pac is some easy to find graphics that you are going to need to work on gba4bb. you will need to use the composition tool. in just that one cmd folder I can easily spot over 30 graphics to work on. but beware they reuse tiles some are mirrored. you will have to take that into account when editing the images.

    just an example no the actual menu graphics you are looking for those are lz compressed... which YOU need to do yourself.

    ignitz from romhack amde a .pkb unpacker/packer....but i cant find it.

    Extracting the files..im using NitroExplorer2b
    What files have LZ infront of them?
    And wheres the compositoin tool in ct2?

    you mean these?

    crytaltile2 view is hex mode (F6)
    view the file system ctrl+N
    scroll down to file double click it.
    go to TBL then codepage then japanese or codepage932
    now you should see the japanese. in hex mode.

    now the graphics.
    Press (F5)
    in the properties pane beside tile form change that to gba4bpp.
    tools - tile composition tool - visible only in tile viewer.

    Im asking if you know why when i translated the teams (Occult , SP Fixers ....etc) they come up as `????`. So im asking if i send you my schinfo.dat...could you take a look at it for me and fix it?

    thats easy you need to edit the nftr(s) to have an english single byte alphabet.

    there are several tools for this but crystaltile2 can do that also
    just google NFTR edit
