Gaming help with pokemon y back up

My cousin has a problem, now I'll try explain the best way I can haha.

he's recently bought powersavers and has the game saved on a windows laptop (not sure if that's relevant but this is just what i've been told)

he said he's been transferring his pokemon over the past 5 years to the newer games, now he said when he goes on to pokemon y the game is corrupted, he'd created the back up just before it had happened,
when it happened he pressed restore to put the data back on using powersavers, it appeared to be reading the game, then tried writing it but then went back to reading it and failed to restore, he says the back up isn't on the power save, but it is on the windows computer.

can anyone help please?
if i haven't explained it very well or it makes no sense please say, because i'm a bit clueless about the powersavers thing.

Ok, but is it to much trouble to write how you managed
to do it? Not for me, but for other people who have a similar

they rang Datel and the guy on the phone told him to delete the corrupt data on the pokemon game,
then start a new game for a few minutes,
then turn the ds for a few minutes,
then connect the powersave back up, it reads the disk then rewrote the pokemon back in the game.
