Help wanted - Identify the current hack and best option to move forward

Hi there!

I was gifted an 8Gb Wii U that was untouched for at least 2 years. The person who gave it to me can't remember which method he used to hack it, the better clue that I have regarding this matter is that "it did not require a DS game, but also 'Tiramisu' doesn't seem to be the method as he would recall such name". Before handing it to me, he performed a factory reset so I have no idea what it had. It also doesn't have any SD.

I'm not a dumb girl but I also don't have too much expertise on tinkering with Wii U, I did a CBHC back in the day and things have moved way forward since

Was following the wiiu.hacks.guide but could not pass the Payload-Installer check, I got this:

Weird (IMHO) things that are worth mentioning:

• The console's Eject/Power button and or the LEDs sometimes work, others don't.
• Opening Health and Safety brings the Homebrew Launcher, HB Store works but FTP everywhere, for instance, doesn't.
• I am missing the Disk and Wii channel (Probably due to the RegionHax?).
• The browser seems fine, I can navigate to and trigger the exploit from wiiuexploit.xyz and go as far as the aforementioned check error.
• The console seems to not automatically connect to my internet, I have to go to Settings > Connect > Saved connections > MyConnection > Test Connection. And even doing this, sometimes it fails the first time and I have to retry until it works so I can go back home and open the browser.

I kindly ask for any advice, about which may be the current hack and the best way to remove it to proceed with a clean Aroma install.

Update

I managed to uninstall the Health & Safety Channel that booted the HBL using NUSspli but then, when trying to install a "clean" H&S channel (EUR) it always failed saying that the files must be corrupted. I tried to install the USA version instead and it installed successfully. The problem is that now it fails to open the channel (menu freezes) and occurs when launching the PayloadLoader Installer. Strangely I can't uninstall the USA channel using NUSspli, when I try to, it gives a success but the package is still there.

The issue with the missing DIsk and Wii channels was indeed caused by RegionHax which I managed to fix.

Does anyone have a clue on what to try next? Is there some method to rebuild (or start fresh) the OS/Menu?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a WiiU which I have failed multiple times and rebuilt (3 microsd cards, 1 USB flash drive and an SSD later).. If you can get it back to stock, best bet is Aroma & Tiramisu (even though its said that T is outdated, some of the old apps never got migrated to aroma and only work in Tiramisu)
