Okay so I have managed to make my own bcfnt and inject it back into the game and it worked but there are a few issues with it not being able to display little icons/custom fonts the game uses to represent items or certain categories. All of the text shows up, but those icons/lil img appear as "?"

    My question is...

"Is there a way to edit the existing games default.bcfnt and shrink /edit the text"

because making a new one from scratch doesn't include those special characters when it's created resulting in the "?"

any help is greatly appreciated. and as always I apologize for my ignorance ahead of time.

Yes, there is a way. You can manually replace the texture. Do you want to add some character or just change the font ?

I just want to change the font (size/style). by editing the existing defaultfont.bcfnt.

I have used the SDK tool to convert a Windows style font into a .bcfnt file which when I rename it to "xxxxxxxxx.bcfnt" and put it in games romfs folder to be loaded in-game it doesn't know how to read the games "special icons/little img" so those get represented with a ??.(my guess it's missing parts from the original.bcfnt)

example of the ?? would be like so:

    ?? ( weapon name)

where ?? is there should be a little img that looks like a type of weapon (sword, axe etc.)

I may be going in the wrong direction when it comes to .bcfnt editing, sorry Im new to rom hacking... I have managed to edit arc/.bclim and repack them. I just wanted to try taking a shot at editing fonts now.

    Try this way:
    1. Convert defaulefont.bcfnt to image.
    2. Convert a Windows font to another image, make sure the character layout same as above.
    3. Copy those special icons to the new image by Photoshop.
    4. Save the image as tga format, with alpha.
    5. Convert the image to bcfnt, a character filter(*.xllt files) may be needed.
