as per the warning released by nintendo, children under 8 should not view 3D. consult your dr. before allowing the 5yr old to view 3D images.

I would never let him play 3d games, not at this age anyway. Even when we go to cinema we choose 2d versions of films. I myself can't really handle 3d image because my eyes are killing me after few minutes of watching it. As far as I noticed the parental restrictions on 3ds got the option of restricting the usage of 3d.
Well the current firmware is at 1.9.0.

I know the current firmware is at 1.9.0. I was just wondering- since you said:
You've just gotta wait to update your 3DS until the Acekard2i team releases a fix to flash your card (which usually doesn't take that long, by the way).
if the fix you talking about is the new version of AKAIO, or maybe its some separate piece of software.

Then there wasn't a reason to buy a 3DS, unless he'll be getting 3D games when he's older. The 3DS doesn't run regular DS games any better than a regular DS.

The fix isn't a new version of AKAIO, it's a firmware flasher. Just keep an eye on the Acekard news page.

AKAIO isn't firmware. AKAIO determines game compatibility, not DSi/3DS compatibility.

I've heard the 3DS doesn't do original DS games very well with the new top screen, but, that's also what I've heard. But it's incredible with 3DS games. So I wouldn't go out and get rid of your previous-gen DS if you get a 3DS, if I were you. Chances are you won't get that much for it anyways you know?
It runs them fine, either stretched or smaller/native size.

Well sometimes it takes longer. They are a real team of real people, after all. Cut 'em some slack, Jack! XD

(Sorry about the four replies at once. Been gone a while. :S)
They used to release updates within days, and other flash cart teams are still releasing updates within days (some within 24 hours), while the Acekard team has been taking over a month each time.

That's a lack of care on their part, and has caused many people here to just buy another flash cart so they can at least have one during the month-long wait.

I don't get you. As far as I know, regular DS won't run games released on 3DS, and to play games on 3DS you don't have to play them in 3D. 3DS means more and better games to me. I'm a parent and I know how to care about my child. 3D image isn't really dangerous for children's eyes anyway.

OK, thanks, that's what I was looking for.

That's explains a lot, thanks a million.

Neat-o.
