Hacking Help Modding a Old Wii

Hi, I've been out the Wii seen for a while and now a buddy wants his Wii modded.
His Wii system menu is at 4.1U and it is a lunch Wii so I know I can install BootMii to Boot2.

I just wanted to know what is the best way to mod this and what version of BootMii is the best to use.
"I remember something being wrong with newer versions of BootMii something about not being able to use a NAND backup."
