I am looking for my first laptop (don't judge!) and I've been kinda skeptical on which I should get.

Requirements that need to be met:

Less than 11", please. Looking for very portable laptop.

No flash memory in place of the hard drive. If there is flash memory, it better come with a hard drive as well.

Over or equal to 1gb of RAM, with ease of installation of more if necessary.

It must run Windows (at least XP) and/or Ubuntu (I'm stuck in between crossing to Ubuntu... My computer has had ubuntu problems recently...)

This may sound stupid, but just in case, it must be Wi-fi enabled.

Stuff I would like to have but don't need:

Bluetooth

Camera

Low price

Easily hackable (Eee pc)

Thank you for all of your help.

More storage in a box of the same size, that runs hotter and breaks easier.

You might consider a 901 and sticking a laptop external on it when you need the extra storage.

I had to make the decision between the 1000HA and the 900HA too.

Whats going to be your purpose for it?

General purpose. My friends and I are always hanging out, and I want to have a laptop to run light/medium-intensity games (no Crysis for me), some movie making software (my other friends and I are filming a lot), and internet with a zillion tabs open.

I want to be able to be somewhere, and everyone's asking questions about whatever, and BAM!

I'll pull out my laptop all cool-like and google it.

I doubt any sub-11 inch laptop will be able to run much

You're not going to get much medium gaming done with either the 900HA or the 1000HA. Or video editing (well truth to be told SD content is fine but don't expect it to be fast). Here is World of Warcraft. It's not intensive... at all. So it should give you a indicator of performance.

This is the ONLY netbook that would fit. It has a dedicated video card unlike other netbooks. (which would speed up both gaming and video editing)

Your only other options are get a 1700$ 11" inch laptop or get a bigger screen model.

This actually looks pretty good. A definite contender. Thanks!
