Hacking Help installing a cfw.

Im trying to install rogero 4.50 cfw (http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/ps3-cfw-4-50-v1-00-ps3-flash-tool-v4-50-ps3-dev-rogero-3850/). When I try to update through usb it says an error ocured during the copy operation. Can anybody help?

Are you on 3.55? It's been a while since I've installed a firmware on a PS3..... But try and install it via the recovery menu (google this to find out how) and make sure your console is "dehashed" and QA-Flag is enabled (again, Google these terms to find out how) they all make for safer firmware install I think..... Correct me if im wrong guys

Yep, to install a CFW you have to upgrade from 3.55. If you're not on 3.55 you will need to downgrade.

Thanks, is it actually possible to downgrade? Cuz i know people like to fake ps3 hacks.

It depends on your PS3's model, check this table for your PS3, if it says the downgrade min is 3.55 or less you can downgrade it and install CFW.

Well it turns out that my ps3 model cant downgrade , thanks for the clarification anyway.
