Hello, I recently sold my Nintendo Switch with the Atmosphere system, but I didn’t format the console or the SD card before doing so. I’m concerned that some personal files, such as photos or videos, might have ended up in the NAND because when I installed games using DBI MTP Responder, I would install them via “NAND Install” since my SD card had issues and couldn’t handle large game files through “SD Card Install.”

So I’d like to ask: is it possible to accidentally copy files like JPGs, MP4s, or PDFs into the NAND Install directory or other NAND-related drives that are visible through DBI MTP Responder?

DBI's 'NAND install' and 'SD install' aren't directories - it installs the game from the file rather than copying it. Your PDFs are not NSP/XCI &c. files so couldn't be copied in this way.

You also get access to your SD card contents (where your 'atmosphere' and 'switch' directories live) through DBI (e.g. when you update plugins, add game mods &c.), so you could have copied personal files onto it. But I doubt you would have done this accidentally / without noticing.

Not sure why you're stuck on the NAND being a problem. Whether you copied them to the NAND (which can't be done accidentally) or the SD Card they are now in the hands of someone else if you didn't remove them.

Thank you so much. Does this mean I can feel assured that the files will never end up in the NAND 100%, even if I accidentally drag a PDFs or JOG file into NAND Install, NAND SYSTEM, NAND USER, SAVES, Album, or Installed games? Also, does DBI have any restrictions on file extensions that can be installed, and is it the same across all versions?

Science! Windows dings and refuses to copy a PDF or JPEG to any of those, with DBI (version 658, which is the last release in English) complaining:
Code:
File [name].[ext] not accepted
Storage readonly
File [name].[ext] can not be created

The readme page says:
The ultimate solution to install NSP, NSZ, XCI and XCZ and work with Nintendo Switch.

IIRC support for the XC… formats was added after the initial release.

You would really have had to try quite hard to accidentally copy other files onto your Switch.

The only way to copy things to the NAND proper is to turn off the read only option in Hekate, mount it in Hekate, Open that mount with NxNandManager, decrypt the contents with the console's keys, and then mount that decrypted partition to Windows with NxNandManager. You didn't accidentally drop random things onto the Nand.
