So, using this logic, do you think it would be "justified" if Microsoft wiped your hard drive for refusing to accept the Windows 10 upgrade?

He probably means because they used clones after being warned not to.
I don't think that deserves a brick, hell some clones look like the real thing so they may not have known

Yeah I agree. If the clone-users don't know it's really Gateway they would never think of looking on their website. A better idea would have been a warning message followed by the card no longer working.
Yup, I have no problem with them stopping the clones from working. A users system on the other hand is not ok.

Their 4.5 downgrade feature was rock solid reliable. If they can repeat that with a9lh and/or 10.x downgrade, watch out scene.
Actually, this would be more like if Microsoft detected you were running a pirated install of Windows so they decide to flash your bios with a messed up one so your computer does not boot (post) again.

I have been reading GBAtemp for like 7 or so years now and I don't think I've ever read a post this outlandishly mean.
Do you really think that people that try to use a clone of the gateway card deserve to have their 3DS irreversibly bricked without a hardmod and a sysnand backup?
This is already a niche hobby as it is, some people might just buy a flashcart not knowing there even IS a part of this software that could render their 3DS totally unusable.
To be honest, gateway is shit anyway, I'll always prefer A9LH + CFW but still man- what the fuck.
I can't believe there's actually people that think the gateway team is justified for knowingly, purposefully turning 3DS units into paperweights.
Some gateway users are just a bunch of entitled little shits with their heads up their asses, I guess.

For future reference, I'm going to write some instructions:
If on an o3ds, you can downgrade sysnand directly. Should you get a partial on 2.1, you can launch rxTools via the SPIDER browser exploit to enable signature patches and launch the PlaiSysUpdater CIA you installed earlier. Running it again should resolve the partial.
