Hi all, my console got banned from Nintendo recently not because I homebrewed it but I unknowingly downloaded digital copies from different users - I didn’t know this could get me banned and I’m really sorry about it (No wonder the digital copies was dirt cheap).

After a few days of panic and settling myself down, I just realised I am a person who doesn’t really play online except for downloading games through Eshop.. so I have collated some questions that I’d like to ask :

1) Can I still play on new game cartridges? Do I need to download anything when I inserted my new game cartridge? (Sorry it has been quite some time since I actually bought new games lol)

2) If yes for Q1. Does it work if I update my game cartridge through other people’s consoles?

3) Am I able to get system updates?

4) If I were to get a new switch, am I able to login my account to re-download my E shop games?

5) My version starts with XAK4 which I think it is a patched switch. So not knowing how to solder myself, what are the possibilities that in the near future I can homebrew this switch without the need of hard modding?

Appreciate all your feedback in this..thanks! 🙏🏻

Hi, I'm so sorry to heard that your sweet console just got banned, but that doesn't mean it's the end, you can do a lot of stuff with your banned switch, but first let me answer your questions! :teach:

1) You can play cartridges on your banned Switch, you don't need to download anything, bc you got banned from big N servers
(*)

2) Local Update with other consoles will don't work, why? bc both consoles requires
Nintendo accounts online, so the banned one can't connect to internet... (*)

3) Nope and never (*)

Thanks to DocKlokMan for correcting what I said, apologies for the misinformation: https://gbatemp.net/threads/help-banned-switch-console-questions.633756

4)Yes! You can re-download your purchased games from the e-shop to another and fresh new one with your same Nintendo Account!

5) You can verify if your Switch can me modded in this link: https://damota.me/ssnc/checker/ I recommend you to try the RCM hack, with a paper clip, u know...

(*) Now, I recommend to you to install EmuMMC, with that you can:
- Install games updates online/offline :creep:
- Install System Updates online/offline
- Install games with a
"free-shop" (Pirated and Homebrew games) :tpi:
- You can install a modified YouTube version for
banned consoles (You can take screenshots and take the 30 secs. videoclip!)
- You can use
another gamepads from another consoles! It can be Xbox, Dualshock (Playstation), Generic ones, etc.
:yayps3::yayone::yaypsp::yayu:

- You can install Retroarch (you can play a lot of classic games!) :gba::psp::nds::sp:

- You can install game ports (Like Ocarina of Time 60 FPS https://gbatemp.net/threads/ocarina-of-time-switch-port-ship-of-harkinian) :grog:
- A lot of things you can do with your banned console! :gun:

I hope this answer your questions! Have a great day! :yayswitch:

If they have the ability to buy a new switcn then they should also spend the couple bucks on a real jig instead of risking damage with a paperclip.

Ignore the first answer, lots of misinformation.

1. Yes, you can play carts just fine.
2. Yes, you can sync update data with other consoles just fine.
3. Yes, most banned consoles can still get system updates.
4. Yes, Nintendo rarely does account bans, just console bans.
5. Slim to none unfortunately. Sending your console to someone to install a PicoFly may be the best and most cost effective option.

Are you sure you're not account banned?

Usually when this happens, the digital games were bought with a fraudulent credit card. Scammer sells the digital code, gets real money.

Typically any sort of financial issue like this, Nintendo will ban the account, and not the Switch. (The account of the user who activated the game)..

You might want to sign into your Nitendo.com account on your browser and see if you see any error messages.

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
