Just wanted to say hello to everyone that makes this site such an informative place, congratulations on a great site.

I'm pretty much new to all this and wanted to buy my first R4, flash card or whatever you call it. I've been reading the reviews of various cards trying to make a good buy. Any advice will be very much appreciated, I just want something that works well and has good updates to keep it working with newer games at an affordable (emphasis on affordable) price. I still don't know much about all the features the different cards bring or if I would ever use them?

Guess I just want something that works. I'm sure I will learn more as I read through your site.

Thanks and any tips for a newbie to get started are welcomed

It's good to meet you, I'm haflore.

It depends on what you want it to do, R4 should do what you want once you install WoodR4. Another popular card is the AceKard2i, very reliable with fairly frequent updates so everything works.

I use a CycloDS, everything works on it, but be warned, it only works on DS lite and older. No DSi.

Watch out for me.

Anyways get the Acekard 2i if you just want to play DS games, but get the Supercard DSTwo if you also want to play GBA games, and have extra features (like save-stating DS games and bringing up game guides and maps while in-game).

You actually came at a good time, if your into Pokemon, Black and White is around the corner, and the 3DS is about to reveal its release date in a little bit.
