I'm sure this is real. With the ELF loader, we only need a library to start coding. But those experienced with ASM and knowledge of Wii's registers can start coding simple demos immediately.

Don't want to seem egocentric, impatient and selfish but...
Where are the first programs to load burned wii disks? 0_o

It would be awesome if someone can greate a channel and write it in the flash with this methode so you can load Iso's from HDD with this channel or something like that.

I hope they'll at least release a working, stable ELF loader in the near future. I bought Zelda: Twilight Princess because of this, but of course I also want to play the game. As I want to use the first slot for the ELF loader and the second for the game itself I'll have to wait until they'll release one... Oh well

Folks wishing for a loader do realise that's almost the opposite of what people are aiming for with this hack...right?

It's by and large an opening to run homebrew, not an opening for piracy. Undoubtedly if full homebrew is achieved through this then someone will more than likely write a "loader" but at present that is definitely not what's being aimed for.

I think this just a homage to the team twizzer (or how they are called), not really a prove of concept, like most of the "hello worlds"

Get the homebrew starting

wii media center would be kind of pointless, who would like to watch movies in 480p when an old xbox gave access to HD movies?

however, running games from an HDD, or making the system entirely region free would be great. the best is yet to come

@SylverReZ yeah, I know :/ the unfortunate compromise I'm making to play games without pirating them. At least Steam/Valve are one of the least-evil companies in the space.

You gotta worry about the devs pulling the servers more than steam actually taking away your game tbf

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
They're not as bad anyways, they made the Steam Deck which first became Steam Machines. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
You gotta worry about the companies selling the games that could pull it from Steam at any given time without warning, and poof, that game is gone from your library.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Steamos machines been around a minute valve just got lucky and released something affordable before everyone else
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@K3Nv3, and that's why I almost exclusively play single-player only games that don't require always-online shit, and for the games that do have an always-online requirement or largely depend on it, the dev/publishers are ones that have a track record of supporting their games longer term

Affordable portable = more steam game salss
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yeah online only should really be a subscription thing like EA play
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
or, if we're fortunate to get dedicated servers for games, I'll gladly host one to play on lol
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
If Cod released like a multi-player online for $8 a month they could make a killer bargain with all the games people would rather do that then spend $100 on the crap
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
id rather just never play COD lol
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Yeah but you get in the mood every now and then like a quick Madden session
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I can confidently say I've never been in the mood for madden lmao
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Depends on what the friends want to do
