So I have a Maxtor OneTouch4 external HDD, 250 GB in size.
Been using it to store all my PSP and DS games.

Well today I tried to copy everything off and all but one file would copy.
That one file would stop at 49% and just stall.
If I tried to zip it first, it'd stop zipping at 11% and stall.

So I tried chkdsk to see if I could recover the file and that would have taken FOREVER the way it was going so I just reset the computer (Start > Restart).

So I went to format it and every program I used (namely FAT32FORMATTER) shows the drive as being 772GB, but it's only a 250GB hard drive.
I went ahead and let it format, which took overnight, and now - sure enough - it's showing that it's a freshly formatted 772 GB hard drive.

Anyone know what's going on here?
Did something get scrambled or do I need to RMA this drive?

So I removed the HDD, plugged it back in, then loaded up Acronis Disk Director and it displayed normally.
Let me format it easily without problems.

Not sure if it was the unplugging/replugging or if Acronis is responsible for making it display correctly.

Oh well sorry for the pointless topic.
