If you live anywhere outside the US, you're most likely dazzled by the insane prices of smartphones and their release dates (myself included). Since I want a new phone and I got my scholarship on Friday, I was willing to buy a Nexus 5 (and I don't want to wait 5 years for it to get released here).
Basically, what I want to do is access the Google Play page for the Nexus 5 and order it to my cousin's address, who will be coming here in two weeks or so (and I won't have to pay the crapton of money it needs to get shipped here).
The problem: Google locks their Device part of the Play Store to shitty countries like mine. So when I try to enter the product page, it gives me a message that I can't proceed.
"Oh well, time to load up a proxy", I said to myself and tried at least 20 different US proxies, each of which always ends up getting a "No connection" error.
And I'm sure I'm doing it right, as I've used a UK proxy the same way and it worked without connection issues (albeit with a lot of lag).

Sooo...I have no idea what to do now...

I could always ask my cousin to buy it and send him the money via PayPal, but I'd just rather buy it myself.

Any ideas?

Use a proxy on a computer. Job done.

Edit. Woops didn't read properly. You could try using tor browser or worst comes to worst trust someone in a viable country to do it for you

EBay is another option, just use the us site, you may pay a little more but beggers can't be choosers

Ugh, the cheapest offer is 85 dollars more expensive than the offer on google play (435$ as opposed to 350$). That's quite a lot more money.
And I'm a cheapskate, so I'll keep trying other proxies.
Btw, what is this 'for browser'?

Edit: Tor browser, that makes more sense.

Tor browser is a browser that has access to a lot of different proxies and you can change to a different one at the click of a button

There is a 1+ month wait on the play store right now till it ships
Thats why people are charging more on ebay

Ahh, I see...
Dammit, now I gotta wait...
Thanks for pointing that out though.

People are charging more on eBay because they're dicks.... They were still charging $120 more for the Nexus 4, even after Nexus 4 received a price cut on the official store. You could buy a Nexus for $250-$300, but were still going for $400+ on eBay.

However on thing you shouldn't forget when buying a Nexus device on eBay is taxes and other fees.
For Texas residents where the tax rate is 8.25% and theres still a shipping charge, the Nexus 5 32GB is $441.37.
I'm contempt with buying my Nexus for $480 on eBay. Whats an extra $40 really when I was already going to spend atleast $440+?

What really gets me was how sudden the announcement of Nex5 was. Nex5 was rumored/nearly confirmed, but never had a release, and then POOF! Suddenly Nexus5 shows up and it was sold out before I even knew it was being sold.

Anyone reading should consider buying their Nexus5 on eBay or pre-order the next shipment now because Christmas is coming and who knows how much harder it will be to get one.

Or just buy an LG G2, 'cuz it has the same specs with a superior battery (which I need), a similar price and isn't as hard to find as the Nexus.
