I've been developing (on and off) an application called BASin for the past 7 years. It's an IDE for Sinclair BASIC - you can use it like Visual Studio or Borland Delphi, but for a very old language. It produces files that can be run on Sinclair Spectrum emulators. It's written in Delphi 5, with the z80 emulation core in optimised x86 asm. I also coded the majority of the ZXSpin emulator, which seems to be quite popular within it's intended audience.

Messed around with C++ on the GP2X, porting Rick Dangerous. C++ is still the shitty, bloated crap-fest of a language that I remember from years ago.

Currently, I'm writing my own OS for low-spec PCs based on the Sinclair Spectrum ROM. Basically, a souped-up speccy with highres gfx and enhanced sound, with a full BASIC implementation available at boot-up, just like the old 8-bits. It's progressing nicely, and is coded in pure x86 assembly.

I'm making a game in Game Maker 7 at the moment with a friend. We've given ourselves 5 weeks to make the first level, including 100% original sprites, music and design. We're about a week in so far and have the main ship and 1/2 the background to the first level (which is 25 screens wide) scrolling around and firing. I'm gonna start on the music and sfx this week and my buddy will have a few enemies to drop in soon.

So far it looks a bit like this...

I'm sure in 5 weeks it'll look much better

- This is the first game making I've done for a loooong time. Over 10 years but I'm loving every second of it even tho' it's driving me nuts at the same time! haha.

[edit: i'll post the game once it's done and all you proper programmers can have a giggle at me

Aww thanks. Yeah I was thinking about blogging the progress. I suppose I could catch up the week and then do the next 4 weeks. Hmm... will have a think about it over lunch

I've tried C++ but never had the time :/
Other languages I have learned are GML(Game Maker), Maxima(for mathematical stuff), GNU Plot(for making graphs) and BASIC Stamp 2.5(For a project where I was programing a robot).

I doubt that I'll learn more programming languages as i'm focusing on becoming a graphics artist/or 3d modeler.
