So I got a new SD card and downgraded my N3DS. I followed the downgrade steps and that was fine, then I started following this for the NAND thing

    https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...luding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589/

All was going fine until I started this part at the end...

    • "What you want to do now is unlink NANDs and that's easy. Basically, the 3DS now needs to be reset to factory default. To prevent any problems with your NNID not working anymore in EmuNAND (if you have one), we can use the homebrew tool TinyFormat to unlink. Using TinyFormat, the problem of NNID not being linked anymore will not appear. So go into Homebrew Launcher again, start Pasta, go into Homebrew Launcher again, start TinyFormat, press Y and format your SysNAND.
      • if this doesn't work for you or you don't have / care about NNID, you can also unlink by formatting the device with System Settings. Go to System Settings, Other Settings, scroll to the last page and choose Format System Memory. Now remove your microSD and continue. When formatting is done, reboot the device and put your microSD back in. Do not forget removing your microSD, or it will delete everything on it.
    • After unlinking, start your N3DS again and go through initial setup.
    • Now your NANDs are unlinked and inside the \Nintendo 3DS folder on your microSD should now be two folders with letters and numbers. This is the proof that your NANDs are unlinked.
    • [IMG] Find the folder that does not have the \dbs folder inside (this is the folder for your SysNAND as you just formatted it), and repeat the steps with import.db and title.db as described above.
      • The other folder should already have the \dbs folder, because you restored your backup to the microSD already.
Now that EmuNAND is set up correctly, software installation can begin."

I have no idea what I need to do now.I am stuck with a Formatted system memory 3DS and there is already a file on the SD with import.db and title.db in it. What am I meant to do now to get everything back?!

    Double check this.
If you do have two user id's in that folder, you've correctly unlinked your nand's and can continue installing ReiNand

Your NANDs are still linked. If they weren't, you'd have two folders there with a bunch of gobbly gook in the name. All you have to do is go to the system format in System Settings, and when it pops up the big red button that says "FORMAT", eject your SD, then put it back in after the reboot.

Right,I took the SD card out and restored the 3DS to Factory settings.I just put the card back in and have now got to do the initial set up again.Does this need to be FULLY completed (i.e. set up internet etc).Once I am done, then what?

No. Remove it when the big red button comes up, then while the screen is still black (before the home menu loads) put your card back in. Internet setup isn't necessary, but might as well do it.

Yeah - the one with the dbs is your emunand, the one without is your unlinked sysnand.
You should now be able to continue with the rest of the cfw installation.

Of course nothing is there anymore. That's the whole point of a reformat. You don't actually want anything except for menuhax on your sysnand anyway. You've already installed Menuhax before, so just do the same thing you did the last time to get it back.

Everything else such as your games and things you'll want to have on your emunand instead.

Everything you've installed prior to the unlink (system format) will be lost on sysnand. However you can download them again I believe, either from the eshop or using a cia downloader.

Exactly. All of that stuff should still be on your emunand anyway. And if it isn't, then all you have to do is update emunand to 10.5, log in with your NNID, then redownload all the things.

You can convert .3ds files (roms) to .cia files that you can install using FBI or Titlemanager to have the games on the SD-card using this https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-3ds-simple-cia-converter.384559/
