All of those are either hardware defects or people being dumbasses. There'll always be a possibility of getting a defective system, regardless of when you get one, but it's extremely unlikely, and if it does happen you can just return the system for a new one.

Launch day one for normal stuff and homebrew (both on sysmmc)
Late 2017 one for experimenting (I often need to switch firmware versions and stuff like that, having a second console for that is nice).
