I'll probably switch a year or two from now to play catch-up with upgrades to keep everything running smoothly. And be using WindowBlinds to make it as much like XP as I can heh.Celice said:for what little extra is really done that's worth it.Hardware acceleration of the UI, meaning your graphics card is offloading the task of drawing the screen (outside of 3D games) off your processor, freeing up orcessing power to actually run programs, which is the same stuff linux and OSX have had for years... meaning that if you'ren ot on integrated graphics, Aero is FASTER than XP's graphical mode!
Separating some driver models from the kernal, so on Vista/7 if your video driver crashes it DOESN'T bring down everything else with a BSOD.
UAC, better security.
Updated windows movie maker and windows media player and all that jazz.

Seems to be an awful lot of "nothing" in those pages...
Windows isn't built for YOU, it's built for a majority of people.
You bought a piece of shit.Celice said:I bought a laptop and downgraded it from Vista to XP, on Vista it could barely run The Sims 2, on XP, it ran SO much better. Its resources weren't completely hogged up.

When did I say my computer was a gaming computer?

There's one thing you forget: most people don't care. So what if it doesn't have all these fancy megahertz, the average user is happy if he can browse the internet, check his email, write his documents etc. I'm certainly not a novice, but I'm still like this. If I want to play games, I'll play games on a console. I don't use any video editing programs. Why would I buy a new computer for 1000 euros when I can buy one for 200 euros which can do whatever I want just fine? Same for the OS. I'm personally a Linux user. Maybe it won't do everything Windows can (although I'm sure the reverse is also true) but it does what it needs to do, both fast and safe. I have a partition with Windows XP just in case I want to use it, and I don't plan on upgrading it any time soon.Rydian said:If you're buying a computer with Vista/7 and it's squeezing on the requirements, you're buying a piece of shit computer.Celice said:I mean, the system requirements for Vista and up are crazy

exactly i upgraded to windows 7 64bit and never looked back at xp..Radiant said:probably an attempt to finally get people off xp.
don't see much reason to stay on xp nowadays unless you're on ancient hardware.

i never either bought win 7 64bit home prem for just $150 on ebay cos i said i was a system builderifish said:one thing i never pirate is my OS..... so i bought windows 7 and Mac OS snow leopard

So much for XP. Win7 runs well even on 512MB computers, if you disable Aero. And if you have a PC which has less than 512MB, it's seriously time to upgrade![]()
Exactly,
im running ultimate on 512mb 333mhz RAM, old PC since 2002
Single Core 2.0GHZ AMD Athalon 3000+
Aero Disabled
I admit it lags when installing things, but relatively i can multi-task and browse the internet quite fine (ive never had to hard reset ever) its never bugged out on me
QUOTE(Bladexdsl @ Mar 11 2010, 08:13 AM) too much hassle also to keep up with cracks to keep the damn thing running.
You've misunderstood.sjones900 said:Man, I just got my new computer together no more than 3 or 4 months ago with a 1 terabyte HDD. I hope I can format it with this new file systemor whatever.

it should never give you trouble unless you installed the genuine update for it which checks if its pirated or not (update isnt even required) you can still install sp1 and sp2 without it and it would still work fineMaz7006 said:The only thing that gave me troubles was MS office 2007, so i just used open office instead.
