Gaming Hamachi Help

I want to play a game of Heroes of Might & Magic 5 : Tribes of the East online with some friends.
One of them has a downloaded copy of the game so doesn't have a serial key.

Due to this, we can't play on Ubi.com
If we all installed / configured Hamachi, would this allow online play without needing the key?

I've not played a game over a LAN in many a year so not sure if it will need it or not.
I know you can play offline without the key.

If you can play multiplayer offline (using the LAN), then yes it will work.
Unless they are using a detection of some sort.
