I'm def. not over the limit, that was with only 11 games installed on the system. I was looking at some stuff with the box art so I only had 11 games on it at the time.
In that case there is/are game/s that can don't work. Remove it and will work ok.

Rgs.

@arminus: I believe having only 11 games installed might be your problem. I read somewhere you will have problems if you have less than 30 games total installed.

OK, so I found a solution to my StarTropics problem. I kept trying different versions of the game until I found one that worked. Strangely enough, the only version that works is the one where the village chief refers to the Yo-Yo as a "Star" (this was changed in the Virtual Console release, and I'm assuming the same version is used in the NES Classic Edition). So there you have it, no patch needed, you just have to find the correct version of the game.

Thanks i'll see if that helps. Btw what issues were you having with star tropics? I've disabled all 30 base games from the NES Classic USA version and am using a rom from EmuParadise for StarTropics (USA) so not sure if I should just enable that game in the pre-installed games instead of using the rom.

I have a Famicom Classic (which does not include StarTropics) and I was having trouble finding a version of the game that worked, but I eventually did :)

Did some testing and have a little feedback:

Patched Holy Diver with English translation and then patched that file with an MMC1 hack patch. I added the game (using hakchi2.10 btw) and received a "Sorry, this game is four screen..." warning, but added anyway. After flashing, the game started fine and played pretty well. I made it to the first boss and then stopped. Not sure if there will be further issues, but so far so good. Only note would be that the player seemed to move/jump a tad slow. I never played the original so I have no frame of reference--but perhaps that is a good thing. Has anyone had a similar experience with Holy Diver? Did you get a warning when adding with the MMC1 hack patch applied?

Feedback on Splatter House coming soon...

I just applied the MMC1 patch over my translated rom and it works fine in PC emulator. Can't test on the classic right now

Because it works on PC doesn't mean it'll work on the nes mini. The splatterhouse patch you linked is the one I used and mine works fine. If your going to patch make sure it's the original rom not a translation rom.

Never said it would which is why I mentioned I couldn't test on the classic. There are times where you can apply multiple patches to a rom, completely dependent on what the patches are changing.

Cluster,
Is there a way to turn autofire on the pads, similar to how you made the reset work? i am imagining hold select and A to make A have autofire turned on.
I have the famicom mini. would there be a way to make the menu thats in japanese turn to english?
lastly, because i have a famicom mini, the 2 player joy pad doesnt have start or select buttons. Would there be a way to force the 1p Select to act as the 2p start in some cases? i cant start a 2 player battletoads vs double dragon since 2 player cant press start.
Yes, it's possible to add autofire. I'll think about it soon.
It's better to use Japanese version of Battletoads or 2P hack. Anyway, original USA version of Battletoads has critical bug in two players mode.

Cluster,
I just sent you a donation as a token of my appreciation. As if the program alone wasn't enough and all the other improvements, but the controller reset feature is huge. I would love to see the rapidfire/autofire in a future version as suggested by someone else.

I would encourage everyone to throw this man a few bucks for his efforts and time invested in making what Nintendo made good to now GREAT. Nintendo really should have hired you for this project!
Thank you man!

Answer is simple: invalid header. Holy Diver has not four-screen mirroring actually.
I created MMC3 hack of Holy Diver but it has heave slowdowns. Do your MMC1 version working fine?

Startropics 1 uses MMC6 mapper (unsupported by nes mini) as Startropics 2. It needs a patch to convert to MMC3, otherwise doesn't work

Very ture, but doesn't seem multi patches work on mini. I've tried a few and non have worked.

Really want Japanese Namco Star Wars and Japanese Contra to work. They need a patch though

I beileve it allows sets of selected games to be grouped so you can swap whole collections in and out of the nesmini( because its got finite space fr roms/slots) all action games/ all sports titles etc etc

I think to help everyone that wants certain games to work should come together and put links to where all the patches are that work for the mini.

This will make everyone happy.

Cluster will need to put links to patches on his first page. This will help everyone out that are having issues getting some games to work. Just a thought.

There are very few games that have mapper patches tbh, all the "known" ones I would argue are on romhacking.net, its also about the rom set you are using.

Looks like my black screen issues were caused by the USB cable. It was plugged into my USB hub, but the USB hub apparently didn't have enough power to fully power it so it caused lack of power issues.

Anyway. how do you know what games are under the list that work for the NES Classic? I use EmuParadise for my roms but i've just been using ones marked as (USA) and that's all the info I can find on them.

There are alot of patched games and patches, we just need everyone to play around with them and see which ones work. I've been testing games now

Ive found this to be true it would reset by itself go black or stay black.. thinking its corrupted lol. its not it was power issue.. put it into phone charger 2amp and runs all day everyday

The funny thing was, it wasn't just black screens, sometimes the screen would go a different color other than black, mostly it was black screens, but right before i tracked it down to the USB hub power the screen actually froze as a solid tan color lol.
