I saw that in the initial thread for the new HackMii installer and tried it. Sorry, it doesn't help. For one thing, the installer keeps on trying to use IOS 38 (or 31-37 if 38, etc. is trucha bugged) and never tries to use IOS 41 unless I trucha bug IOS 61 in which case it just gives me the same error message anyway.

Oops, missed that. Strange, my Hackmii 0.7 runs on those two IOS in 4.2 with no problem.

The installer won't try to use any IOS in the 30 range anymore (I trucha bugged them all!!) but installing the latest revision of IOS61 did nothing to help. Here is the most recent installer.log:

I have been in touch with the people over at bugs.hackmii.com and they have finally solved my problem with a different iteration of the installer that is supposed to save more information to the installer.log file. Please see this for more info:
